Matt Huch comes to the Caddo Mills Airport Board as an accomplished and results-oriented professional with extensive experience in aerospace, airport operations, and aircraft mission systems. As a Systems Engineer, he holds an active TS/SCI security clearance. He is historically known for being a visionary leader who enjoys the intricacies of collaboration, problem-solving, and analyzing/achieving goals in critical, deadline-driven environments.
Matt's 20+ year career in the United States Air Force includes significant experience supporting senior government leaders from the White House, Pentagon, and State Department. As a senior aircrew Operator/Instructor/Evaluator, Matt conducted airborne training and evaluations while overseeing the operation and maintenance of secure aircraft mission communication systems on zero-failure global diplomatic operations. Additionally, he's been recognized for improving organizational effectiveness by streamlining processes and developing strategic partnerships.
Key Accomplishments:
Led the standardization and evaluation department for a $72M fleet of two diplomatic mission aircraft, supporting 49 aviators and directing 12 standard and evaluation programs.
Trained eight crew members on a $22M aircraft communications system modification, which then transitioned into service for the Vice President's fleet.
Resolved a cryptographic communication system deficiency that enabled a $61B diplomatic White House engagement in Asia.
Identified and resolved procedural issues that increased the use of aircraft inbound voice capacity by 40%.
Developed and directed instruction on equipment operation and troubleshooting, including WAN/LAN architecture, utilizing voice, video, and data systems across multiple secure airborne network domains.
While Matt has a role as a Systems Engineer, his Aviation Business and Airport Management core competencies include aviation operations management, strategic planning and implementation, partnership engagement and management, and process design and improvement. Leveraging his expertise in strategic planning and partnerships, Matt is keenly focused on developing the Caddo Mills Airport's business potential. Matt has been working closely with Caddo Mills community leaders and organizations such as the Mayor, City Chamber of Commerce, and the City Economic Development Corporation to forge strategic partnerships between the community and the airport. Through these collaborations, his goal is to identify, align, and capitalize on community, city, and airport revenue opportunities based on mutually beneficial development goals that leverage the airport's (currently) untapped business/ revenue potential.
Matt is pursuing a Master's in Public Affairs with a focus on Public Management & Policy Analysis from Indiana University. He also holds a BS/AS in Aviation Business Administration & Airport Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, along with an AAS in Information Systems Technology from the Community College of the Air Force. Finally, Matt is a Certified Member of the American Association of Airport Executives, a member of the Texas Airports Council, a member of the Airports Council International- North America, and a member of the National Business Aviation Association.
Matt and Christy married in Hawaii in 2018 and moved to Caddo Mills in 2023. Matt and Christy enjoy family time with their three-year-old daughter, Claire, and their one-year-old son, Nicholas. Matt enjoys welcoming Carolina, Landon, Bohdan, and Sierra to share time, love, and bonding.
